    Job Summary

    The Electronics &IT Solutions, a Retail business organization selling PC, TV, Camera, Kitchen appliaces, and all other electronics devices, is looking for a customer obsessed, data driven Business Analyst to join our growing cross functional data services team based in Tokyo, Japan. You will play a key role to support high impact products/programs which directly influence our traffic, sales & marketing, inventory & sourcing strategy and other elements to drive the growth of our business.

    Together with your team members, you will define internal-facing and external-facing problems, evaluate possible solutions, and execute on programs that improve the larger team's effectiveness and/or the customer experience. Defining your path will require you to dive deep into data, understand the work of our partner business and software teams, and work with Amazon teams to create a range of automated solutions to our most challenging business problems.

    A successful candidate will be logical, innovative, flexible, relentless in ensuring data quality and reliability and will have the ability to balance excellent analytical and technical skills while driving communication and collaboration with other key business partners.

    Some of the key responsibility areas include, but not limited to:

    • Analyze data with deep understanding of business and related systems and validate data to ensure high data quality and reliable, meaningful insights.
    • Proactively and autonomously identify business problems, perform analysis and propose solution with limited guidance.
    • Design and execute analytical projects using industry standard statistical methods and tools in collaboration with key business partners, business intelligence engineers, global program owners and other specialists
    • Develop a robust and efficient reporting scheme for various metrics, maintain systems and mechanisms to drive the business in scale.
    • Own the design and development of key metrics and own the publishing of periodic reports to drive key business decisions in partnership with product category managers and business leaders.



    Basic Qualifications

    ・ Proven analytical and quantitative skills including advanced statistical analysis, project analysis (example: business modeling), and data interpretation of business impact and results (example: what-if scenarios).

    ・ Strong verbal and written communication skills. Able to gather requirements from diverse stakeholders, communicate insights effectively to both business and technical audience, and the ability to turn analysis insights into actionable programs.

    ・ Hands-on experience in writing complex, highly-optimized SQL queries across large data sets and proficient in Microsoft Excel (including pivot tables, lookup and array functions, data visualization, etc.).

    ・ A a self-starter comfortable dealing with ambiguity, with exceptional attention to detail, vocally self-critical, and respond flexibly to changes in a very fast paced, international environment.

    ・ High business level Japanese and business level English (verbal, writing)


    Preferred Qualifications

    ・ BA/BS in Computer Science, Math, Engineering, Statistics, Economics or other technical/quantitative fields. Advanced degrees.

    ・ Experience of not just data management, but consulting firms, business operations, finance, or marketing is a strong plus.

    ・ Experience with analytical skills in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment, leading projects involving multiple business stakeholders.

    ・ Experience in applying quantitative analysis (such as machine learning, marketing science, operations research, econometrics etc.) into practical business problems.
