    Position Summary

    We are looking for a driven, enthusiastic data minded, agile engineer to be part of the team that is transforming the fight against cancer and improving the lives of patients.

    The Sr. Software Engineer at Ontada works with the technical lead, manager, and business stakeholders in understanding the business needs and writing quality code that aligns with the product roadmap in an agile environment. As a member of the product team, you will participate architecture, design discussions, and develop highly scalable and secure software using agile practices, interact with business partners, service providers and third-party vendors and take part in different phases of software development lifecycle and also mentor Junior members in the team.

    Responsibilities:

    Part of your day will be spent working on following core duties:

    • Work with the development team in development, coding, testing and debugging of the application
    • Work closely with product stakeholders to understand business requirements and help translate these into technical requirements for the development team
    • Plan and document technical specifications for features or system design
    • Write effective, scalable, reusable, and testable code
    • Design and implement a low-latency, highly available, and performant applications
    • Develop design patterns and generalize code to address common use cases
    • Monitor the code and overall application to maintain seamless performance and adherence to key quality metrics and SLAs
    • Implement data security and data protection within PHI environment
    • Mentor junior team members and ensure they adhere to determined software quality standards
    • Assist in the collection and documentation of user's requirements, development of user stories, estimates and work plans
       

    You will also help in areas of leadership and collaboration:

    • Cross-train team members on areas of technical expertise
    • Collaborate with Product Management and Data Governance to build solutions that are widely adopted and are HIPAA-compliant
    • Advocate for development improvements and best practices across the organization by contributing to platform standards, reference architecture, and data governance policies

    Typical Minimum Requirements

    • Degree or equivalent and typically requires 7+ years of relevant experience.
       

    Critical Skills

    • Applied knowledge of cloud computing (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
    • Expertise with Fullstack Java, ReactJs, Angular and some Python programming and various frameworks, preferably 7+ years experience
    • 5+ years of experience with SQL, NoSQL, or PL/SQL coding (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Oracle)
    • Must be familiar with front-end technologies (JavaScript, HTML5, CSS)
    • Knowledge of object-relational mapping (ORM)
    • Familiarity with EKS, Dockerization and Containerization
    • Knowledge of industry CI/CD frameworks using code source control tools like GitHub or Bitbucket
    • Knowledge of SQL or other relational databases and data warehousing principles
    • Knowledge of ETL principles
    • Proficiency with test-driven development (TDD)
    • Capable of authoring robust, high quality, reusable code and contributing to the enterprise inventory of libraries
    • Self-motivated on Continuous learning and innovation is good
       

    Additional Knowledge & Skills

    • Experience in Healthcare Industry is a plus
    • Experience with Healthcare data; HIPAA framework is a plus
       

    Education/Training

    • B.S. degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field
       

    Working Conditions

    • Primary Location – Durham, NC
    • Additional Locations – Austin TX, Dallas TX or Remote (NC, TX, or USA)
    • Occasional travel (up to 10%)

    A competitive salary is determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as alignment with market data. Subject to eligibility, other compensation, such as an annual performance bonus opportunity or long term incentive, may be offered.

    Our Pay Range for this position:

    $113,200 - $188,600
