Whats the role

This role of Software Engineer is an ERP Competency Center will focus on defining solutions for business and customers that leverage technology to manage business applications on SAP (ERP). It is an individual contributor role (i.e. no direct reports) who will be based out of SBO, Bangalore and will invest significant time working in partnership with Business Analysts, IT and business stakeholders and Process Leads to identify, define and develop solutions to meet business needs or resolve business problems. S/he will have deep knowledge of the IT infrastructure setup and will drive the integration of the new system/platform into Shell Downstream IT landscape. The position should have knowledge of given technical skills and programming languages to build state-of-the-art solutions. Skills & accountabilities are given in the sections below.

• Candidate should possess strong ability in SAP Technical development, using a combination of analytical and problem-solving skills. Will work on developing SAP solutions in close collaboration with business analysts, business stakeholders and peers in the CC & natural teams.
• Candidate is hands-on expert in at least 1 of the NextGen skills viz S4/BTP/CPI/UI5 & in multiple (if not all) areas of conventional & OOPS ABAP.
• Proficient in SAP programming, testing, and debugging work related to the implementation, enhancement, and support of various SAP functional areas.
• Design, develop and test programs for SAP modules. Able to switch between conventional R/3, ECC systems programming & SAP NextGen skills along with new age programming concepts for the cloud systems as necessary.
• Develop solution according to specifications, adhering to coding and review guidelines.
• Identify feasible solutions within SAP framework and estimate effort needed to meet those technical requirements and gaps.
• Collaborates with other analysts to ensure system and procedural changes have minimum or no impact on other application areas and workstreams.
• Advises other IT staff on internal development procedures and standards and ABAP development best practices.
• Assist business analysts in development and maintenance of training materials and reference guides
• Support technical requirement gathering, develop prototypes/PoCs/recommend solutions with limited information from the business, delivery quality technical specifications and documentation.
• Must demonstrate ability to think, work independently and should be result-oriented.

What we need from you

• A bachelors degree in computer science or IT (or equivalent) or business administration or applicable work experience.
• Candidate must have 7-11 years of solid SAP Development experience.
• 3+ full life cycle implementations (preferred).
• Must be strong in core ABAP RICEFW, SAP business workflow and SAP WebDynpro.
• Strong experience in interfaces - OData, RFCs, BAPIs, ALE/IDOC, web services, EDI.
• Extensive experience in OOPS ABAP, ALV, Enhancements, ADOBE (preferred) & Smart forms/Scripts.
• Strong working knowledge of at least 2 of the modules: MM, SD, PM, FI/CO, PP, PS.
• Exposure to SAP S/4HANA, SAP BTP (Fiori/UI5/Hana), both backend & frontend.
• Knowledge of key BTP concepts (connectivity, API, Schema logic, DB, Security concept)
• Exposure to consume ABAP OData, XSOData and XSJS services. (Strong preference)
• Experience in creating HANA Artefacts (Views, Tables, Calculation views, XSJS, Lib, Services, XSODATA). (Strong preference)
• Experience in Server-side scripting, Java Script & SQL. (Strong preference)
• SAP certifications in technical skills preferred
