We are seeking for the industry's best Senior Software Development Manager, to lead a fast-moving and large engineering team working to design and develop the Repeat Purchasing shopping experience, algorithms and Machine Learning (ML) models to improve the voice shopping experience.

In this role, you will have an impact on Amazon's Alexa voice shopping experience, and the satisfaction of being able to look back and say “I was a key contributor to something special from its earliest stages”. The right person, is an experienced Senior Software Development Manager/Software Development Director with proven experience leading large engineering organizations and high growth teams. With a strong technical background, great communication skills, as it is essential for the success in this role.

Job Responsibilities

• You will own the charter and vision of the Repeat Purchasing team, and work with PM, UX, and Applied Science teams to build the best shopping experience for millions of Alexa Shopping customers.
• Hire and develop talents for your team.
• Work with stakeholders to build attractive roadmaps and deliver high quality products for customers.
• Exhibit excellent judgment on how to prioritize between focusing on existing versus new customers and between features, architectural improvements and operational excellence.
• Improving and operating mechanisms that drive higher velocity for features and key decisions.
   

Basic Qualifications

• Experience managing engineers
• Experience in partnering with product and program management teams
• Relevant engineering experience
• Degree in Computer Science, engineering, math or equivalent work experience
• 12+ years of software development experience.
• 7+ years of people management experience including 2+ years of managing in a “leader of leaders” role – managing managers and senior engineers.
• Proven leadership skills and teamwork skills.
• Experience guiding and mentoring software development engineers and managers.
• Strong design, architecture, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of technical and non-technical audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

• Has taken a v1 product from inception to customer delivery
• MS.c in math, computer science, engineering
• Experience in leading Applied and Data Scientists and Machine Learning Engineers.
• NLP/IR/Search/Recommendation experience.
• Experience in building big-data pipelines and solving customer problems with Machine Learning and Data Science.
• Strong product skills
