Large US based investment fund is looking for a support engineer having strong Unix administration skills and development experience. The successful candidate will be working with global teams operating and developing a financial data platform.
Responsibilities:
MOTech engineers work on fund's next generation distributed post trade processing system that provides a real-time view into the firm's trades, positions, PNL and risk. Our system needs to process massive volumes of trade and market data in a latency sensitive manner with correctness, consistency and reliability in mind. We work in an agile environment, and participate in all aspects of software life-cycle from design, development, testing to deployment and support. As an engineer, you have a chance to work on various parts of this system, and get a first-hand working knowledge of how a trade moves from execution to settlement. Our system is continually evolving in terms of both scale as well as new business features.
Mandatory Skills Description:
- Strong Java developer
- Possess working knowledge and experience with streaming applications development
- Experience with Testing Frameworks
- Strong database experience - particularly MySQL and PostgreSQL
- Ability to gather and understand requirements by working through and understanding how legacy code base (Perl/python) works in order to assess its limitations and build improved solutions
- Ability to triage complex operational issues during on-call support rotation
- Strong communication to work with development and the business teams
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Experience in Perl would be helpful, at the minimum being able to read/debug Perl code and basic familiarity is fine if they have the ability to understand the processes. Not expected to write any new perl code.
- Python (basic support scripts for Java processes: light scripting, server startup/process automation)
- Finance / Operations/ Security Master experience is a plus but not required.
