About The Role

Reporting to the delivery lead, the Full Stack Software Engineer (Python & AWS) is responsible for delivering software solutions that provide the capability to the business to implement its strategic plans as well as to flex to meet its future business goals.

To be successful in this role, in addition to your excellent technical capabilities, you will help shape your squad's way of working by fostering and applying modern engineering practices to solve problems and agile principles to deliver valuable business outcomes. You will exemplify self-organising behaviours, a continuous improvement mindset and an inclusive one-team culture. You will champion Cloud adoption, Test Automation, CI/CD, Site Reliability Engineering, and new Application Architectures (specifically Microservice Architectures and Event Driven Application Architectures) in your squad. You will be supported by the Delivery lead, Engineering Leads, Architecture, IT Enablement and QA teams.

About You

As a Full stack Software Engineer, you will demonstrate the following qualities;

• Bachelor's degree in IT, Software Engineering, Software Development, or demonstrated industry experience.
• AWS certified (minimum Developer - Associate) or be progressing toward certification
• Python, JavaScript, TypeScript development skills,
• Databases (SQL Server, NoSQL like DynamoDB) Experience in modern engineering practices - branching strategies, testing - TDD, CI/CD, instrumentation.
• Cloud Environments (AWS Preferred, experience in other platform would be considered)
• Strong RDBMS skills with at least one area of expertise: data modelling, triggers, readable SQL, SQL tuning, indexes, database monitoring, workload optimisation, AWS RDS (postgreSQL)
• Designing and developing RESTful API's
• Agile maturity & knowledge of Scrum practices, as well as ability to coach others in their use.
• Experience applying integration technologies, including messaging middleware and modern API-driven approaches.
• Experience within the Energy industry vertical or related field preferred.
