Job Description :

The Application Development Analyst at Vertex Pharmaceuticals will focus on building/deploying and supporting full-stack research applications and platforms. The role will have technical skills as a primary competency, with foundational proficiency in one or more technologies, experience with application development methodologies and tools, and a solid grounding in the fundamentals of Agile development.

The incumbent will provide daily operational support of current technology solutions and contributing to the technical development needs for enhancement projects and new systems implementations.

The Analyst develops and maintains productive relationships with internal clients and DTE colleagues, coordinates with scientists and DTE colleagues to resolve systems issues and advance projects, and assists with development of materials to support user training on new or changing technology solutions. This role, will directly interface with clients and may serve as an interface with the research business leads, respond to user problems, explain new technologies, and present deliverables.

Key Duties And Responsibilities

• Routine data integrations & registrations using internal standards & tools.
• Identify and deploy solutions for managing complex research data in biology
• Support UK specific integrations & custom application layers.
• Onsite support and troubleshooting for application and research data platforms
• Design, develop and test program functionality for new and existing applications
• Develop functional specifications which articulate clear and concise project deliverables consistent with user expectations
• Writes detailed documentation for the operations of applications for development support
• Works collaboratively with software engineering, data and knowledge management, dev ops, user experience, and core technology groups
• Manage biology (structural biology and iBio) research & operational application support activities.
• Communicates work to both technical and scientific stakeholders

Knowledge And Skills

• Experience working in a Scientific research environment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to translate complex scientific requirements into technical requirements
• Familiarity with Structural biology techniques and data types (or a related field)
• Experience in the Python programming language
• Experience with at least one Javascript framework (Vue, Angular, React, ExtJS, or jQuery)
• Familiarity with data interoperability using formats such as XML, SDF, SMILES, JSON etc.
• Relational database experience
• Ability to work with rapidly changing and evolving technologies
• Experience working in a team-oriented collaborative environment
• Ability to manage time and project responsibilities to tight timelines
