Job Description :

We are looking for a talented and passionate Front-End Developer (Hong Kong) to join our vibrant and dynamic team. You will work very closely with our CTO and our amazing tech team to optimise our existing browser-based platform. Your role will be essential to help us build something big and meaningful to the students in Hong Kong.

Product/ Services

Blossom is an all-in-one online education platform that incorporates a wide range of features to prepare HKDSE candidates for public exams. Our platform provides a myriad of online tutorial courses, and a hub for HKDSE candidates to connect with one another. To further enhance students’ engagement levels and combat procrastination, our platform offers a gamified Pomodoro timer for them to stay focused during revision.

Company Description

Having conducted focus group research on HKDSE candidates, our team discovered 3 key challenges in the local educational space. Not only does the examination mode in Hong Kong promote a toxic and excessively competitive learning atmosphere, but it also demotivates students from pursuing what they are passionate about. The provision of existing tutorial classes may not be of great help due to its unaffordability. Despite the development of multiple online learning platforms, there is an absence of platforms that satisfy all students’ needs in preparing for public exams.

The establishment of Blossom aims to nurture a positive and motivational learning environment for students to learn, improve and focus. By providing a one-stop platform that cater all students’ needs, we encourage HKDSE candidates to assist one another and share study tips and materials. Instead of competition, we promote collaboration.

Your responsibilities

• Collaborate with the team and CTO to implement a website/app for our platform
• Perform web-based system testing, debugging, and program refactorization
• Carry out ad hoc modifications according to results of market research and customer needs
• Conduct A/B testing to for potential changes and implement corresponding features if adopted.
• Ensure web assets are optimized with a reasonable runtime complexity to maintain clean and efficient code base
• Define code architecture decisions to support high-performance products

Essential skills and experience

• Graduated with Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, or other related disciplinary
• At least 1 year of work experience
• Good understanding in using front-end web libraries and frameworks, e.g. ReactBootstrap, ReactRouterDom, lodash
• Proficiency in MERN stack – ReactJS, NodeJS, ExpressJS, MongoDB
• Experience in using Git and working in Agile teams
• Understand server architecture and have rich experiences in working with cloud services
• Detail-oriented, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Good command of Chinese and English

Optional skills and experience

• Have experience and skilled at UI/UX development
• Previous experience with or knowledge with similar nature
