UPSC Indian Economic and Statistical Service Exam Application Form

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) invites online applications from eligible candidates for the Indian Economic Service/ Indian Statistical Service Examination, 2026.

All candidates are requested to carefully read the Rules of Indian Economic Service/ Indian Statistical Service Examination notified by the Government (Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change) and this Notice of Examination derived from these Rules. The Candidates applying for the examination should ensure that they fulfill all eligibility conditions for admission to the examination. Their admission to all the stages of the examination will be purely provisional subject to satisfying the prescribed eligibility conditions.

Eligibility Criteria: A candidate for the Indian Economic Service must have obtained a Post-Graduate Degree in Economics/ Applied Economics/ Business Economics/ Econometrics from a University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other Educational Institutes established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as University under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 or a Foreign University approved by the Central Government from time to time.

A candidate for the Indian Statistical Service must have obtained a Bachelor's Degree with Statistics/ Mathematical Statistics/ Applied Statistics as one of the subjects or a Master's degree in Statistics/ Mathematical Statistics/ Applied Statistics from a University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other Educational Institutes established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as University under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 or a Foreign University approved by the Central Government from time to time.

Age Limit: Candidates must have attained the minimum age of 21 years and must not have crossed the maximum age of 30 years as on 30-08-2026. Candidates must have been born not earlier than 2nd August 1996 and not later than 1st August 2005. However, relaxation in the upper age limit is applicable as per government directives.

Plan of Examination: Candidates will be selected on the basis of Written Examination followed by the Viva Voce.

Application Fee: Rs. 200/-
Female, SC/ST, and Persons with Benchmark Disability candidates are exempted from paying the examination fee.
The candidate recommended paying the examination fee online.
