PMI declare changes in PMP EXAM

The Project Management Institute is a worldwide public professional organization for project management. The PMI stated that an alteration is coming to The Project Management Professional exam by the end of this year.

This alteration in the exam outline has been done because of the job roles changed as project managers. The changes in job roles are realized by the research done to know the progress of profession, influence of evolving trend, and realizing the change in the tasks of project managers.

Subject matter professionals from leading firms across the sphere have worked with PMI to state the PMP yet to come. The latest research conducted in June 2019, resulted in a new PMP Examination Content Layout.

The PMP new exam layout was published in June and the last date to take the exam on the current syllabus is the 15th of December 2019. The new exam layout will be implemented from the 16th of December 2019 and students planning to take the exam after this date have to prepare depending on the updated.

Changes in the exam are:

  • From five performance domains i.e. Initiating, Planning, Executing, Monitoring & Controlling, Closing the exam post 16th of December will be based on three domains i.e. People, Process, and Business Environment.

  • In each of the fields, the exam content layout lists Tasks and Enablers.

  • PMI said half approaches will signify agile or hybrid approaches.

The influence of exam change in 2019:

  • The latest PMP exam will be extended

  • Agile is compulsory

  • The exam will be tough with so many new topics as compared to the current

There is no change in the PMBOK Guide i.e. the sixth edition only. This will continue to be an exam reference until the seventh edition will be out. There is no seventh edition expected in the near future at least.

There will be alteration made to the existing questions taking in the new exam content outline. Advancement will be made to the questions. The current Simulator remains active till 15th December but, the new Simulator will be starting on November 15 and available for purchase.
