Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission invites Online applications from eligible candidates for recruitment to the posts of Civil Judge in the Department of Home, H.P through H.P. Judicial Service Competitive Examination 2024.

Eligibility Criteria: Candidates must possess a graduation degree in law as recognized by the Bar Council of India.

Desirable Qualification: Knowledge of customs, manners, and dialects of Himachal Pradesh and suitability for appointment in the peculiar conditions prevailing in the State of H.P.

Age Limit: Candidates must have attained the minimum age of 22 years and must not have crossed the maximum age of 35 years as on 05-01-2025. However, relaxation in the upper age limit is applicable as per government directives.

Scheme of Examination:
Preliminary Examination: The Preliminary examination shall be an objective type examination consisting of the following three papers of 100 marks each:
i. Civil Law-I
ii. Civil Law-II
iii. Criminal Law

Main Examination: On the basis of merit obtained in the Preliminary Examination, the candidates equal to twenty times of the number of vacancies to be filled in shall be called to take the main examination.
The Main Written Examination shall be held tentatively from the last week of March-2025, Each paper will last for three hours. Paper-I to III will carry 200 marks, Paper-IV of 150 Marks and Paper-V of 100 Marks and Viva-Voce will carry 150 Marks.

Paper-I Civil Law-I: 200 Marks
Paper-II Civil Law-II: 200 Marks
Paper-III Criminal Law: 200 Marks
Paper-IV English Composition: 150 Marks
Paper-V Language (Hindi): 100 Marks
Viva-Voce: 150 Marks

Pay Scale: Level of J-1 (Rs. 77840–136520)

Application Fee: Rs. 600/- for General/ EWS, Wards of Freedom Fighters categories/ Home Guard of HP/ Candidate of Other States
Rs. 150/- for SC/ ST/ OBC and Freedom Fighter (WFF), Wards of SC/ ST/ OBC Ex-Servicemen i.e. Dependents sons, EWS covered under UR–BPL categories of Himachal Pradesh.
Female Candidates are exempted from payment of this application fee.
