  Preparation Tips for the RRB Assistant Loco Pilot

  Eligibility Criteria: Candidates must passed a Matriculation/ SSLC plus ITI from recognized institutions of NCVT/ SCVT in the trades of Fitter, Electrician, Instrument Mechanic, Millwright /Maintenance Mechanic, Mechanic (Radio & TV), Electronics Mechanic, Mechanic (Motor Vehicle), Wireman, Tractor Mechanic, Armature & Coil Winder, Mechanic (Diesel), Heat Engine, Turner, Machinist, Refrigeration & Air-Conditioning Mechanic.
  OR
  Matriculation / SSLC plus Course Completed Act Apprenticeship in the trades mentioned above
  OR
  Matriculation / SSLC plus three years Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical /Electronics / Automobile Engineering\

  OR
  Combination of various streams of these Engineering disciplines from a recognized Institution in lieu of ITI.

  Age Limit: Candidates must have attained the minimum age of 18 years and must not have crossed the maximum age of 30 years as on 01-07-2025. However, relaxation in the upper age limit is applicable as per government directives.

  Selection Process: Candidates will be selected on the basis of Computer Based Test followed by the Medical Fitness Test.

  The RRB Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) salary in 2025 ranges from ₹35,000 to ₹40,000 per month, including Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA) and other government benefits.

  What is the Syllabus and Exam Pattern for RRB ALP Exam 2025?

  The RRB ALP 2025 exam pattern is divided into the following:

  CBT 1:

  • Subjects: Mathematics, General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Science, and Current Affairs
  • Duration: 60 minutes
  • Marks: 75
     

  CBT 2:

  • Part A: 100 marks – covers Mathematics, Reasoning, General Science, Basic Science & Engineering
  • Part B: 75 marks – Trade-specific questions (qualifying in nature)
     

  CBAT:

  • No negative marking
  • Only for those applying for the Loco Pilot post

  Is There Negative Marking in the RRB ALP Exam?
