    Job Description :

    The Central Board of Secondary Education will conduct the 20th edition of the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) on 1st December 2024 (Sunday) (Paper- I and Paper II). The test will be conducted in twenty languages in 136 cities all over the country. 

    The examination will be divided into two papers based on the level of teaching. Paper I is designed for candidates aspiring to become teachers for classes I to V, while Paper II is intended for those aiming to teach classes VI to VIII. Candidates who wish to qualify for teaching positions in both primary (classes I to V) and upper primary (classes VI to VIII) must appear for both papers.

    Eligibility Criteria:
    Paper-I(I to V):

    Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education OR

    Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education, in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure), Regulations, 2002. OR

    Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 4- year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).

    Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2- year Diploma in Education (Special Education).

    Paper-I(VI to VIII):

    Graduation and passing or appearing in the final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education.

    At least 50% marks either in Graduation or in Post-Graduation and passed or appearing in final year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed).

    Graduation with at least 45% marks and passing or appearing in final year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations issued from time to time in this regard.

    Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).

    Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 4-year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed.

    Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year B.Ed. (Special Education).

    Any candidate having a qualified B.Ed programme recognized by the NCTE is eligible to appear in TET/CTET. Moreover, as per the existing TET guidelines circulated vide NCTE letter dated 11-02-2011, a person who is pursuing any of the teacher education courses (recognized by the NCTE or the RCI, as the case may be) specified in the NCTE Notification dated 23rd August 2010 is also qualified to appear in the TET/CTET.

    Post-graduation with a minimum 55% marks or equivalent grade and passed or appearing in the final year of a three-year integrated B.Ed.-M.Ed.

    Selection Process:
    Paper- I: The examination will be of 150 marks, distributed across five sections. These include 30 marks for Child Development and Pedagogy (compulsory), 30 marks for Mathematics, 30 marks for Environmental Studies, 30 marks for Language I, and 30 marks for Language II. The total duration of the exam will be 2.5 hours.

    Paper-II: The examination will be of 150 marks, distributed across five sections. These include 30 marks for Child Development and Pedagogy (compulsory), 60 marks for Mathematics and science for Mathematics and science teacher or 60 marks for Social Studies/Social Science for Social Studies/Social Science teacher, 30 marks for Language I, and 30 marks for Language II. The total duration of the exam will be 2.5 hours.

    Application Fee:
    The examination fee for Paper I or Paper II is as follows:
    General/ OBC (NCL): ₹1000
    SC/ST/Differently Abled Persons: ₹500
    For candidates appearing for both Paper I and Paper II, the fee is:
    General/OBC (NCL): ₹1200
    SC/ST/Differently Abled Persons: ₹600
