Job Description :

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) invites online applications from eligible candidates for the Indian Forest Service Examination, 2026.

All candidates are requested to carefully read the Rules of Indian Forest Service Examination notified by the Government (Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change) and this Notice of Examination derived from these Rules. The Candidates applying for the examination should ensure that they fulfill all eligibility conditions for admission to the examination. Their admission to all the stages of the examination will be purely provisional subject to satisfying the prescribed eligibility conditions.

Eligibility Criteria: The candidate must possess a Bachelor's degree with at least one of the subjects namely Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Zoology or a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Forestry or in Engineering of any of Universities incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification.

Age Limit: Candidates must have attained the minimum age of 21 years and must not have crossed the maximum age of 32 years as on 01-08-2026. Candidates must have been born not earlier than 2nd August 1994 and not later than 1st August 2005. However, relaxation in the upper age limit is applicable as per government directives.

Plan of Examination:
The Indian Forest Service Examination will consist of two successive stages (vide Appendix I Section-I)
(i) Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination (Objective type) for the selection of candidates for the Indian Forest Service (Main) Examination; and
(ii) Indian Forest Service (Main) Examination (Written and Interview) for the selection of candidates for the Indian Forest Service.

Application Fee: Rs. 100 for appearing in the Indian Forest Services (Preliminary) Examination
Female, SC/ST, and Persons with Benchmark Disability candidates are exempted from paying the examination fee.
The candidate recommended paying the examination fee online.
