Job Description :

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) invites online applications from eligible candidates for the Indian Economic Service/ Indian Statistical Service Examination, 2025.

All candidates are requested to carefully read the Rules of Civil Services Examination notified by the Government (Department of Personnel and Training) and this Notice of Examination is derived from these Rules. The Candidates applying for the examination should ensure that they fulfill all eligibility conditions for admission to the examination. Their admission to all the stages of the examination will be purely provisional subject to satisfying the prescribed eligibility conditions.

Eligibility Criteria: The candidate for the Indian Economic Service must possess a Post-Graduate Degree in Economics/ Applied Economics/ Business Economics/ Econometrics from a University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other Educational Institutes established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as University.

Candidates for the Indian Statistical Service must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Statistics/ Mathematical Statistics/ Applied Statistics as one of the subject or a Master's degree in Statistics/ Mathematical Statistics/ Applied Statistics from a University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other Educational Institutes established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as University.

Age Limit: Candidates must have attained the minimum age of 21 years and must not have crossed the maximum age of 30 years as on 01-08-2025. Candidates must have been born not earlier than 2nd August 1995 and not later than 1st August 2004. However, relaxation in the upper age limit is applicable as per government directives.

Scheme of Examination:
The examination shall be conducted in two parts
Part I- Written examination carrying a maximum of 1000 marks.
Part II- Viva voce of such candidates as may be called by the Commission carrying a maximum of 200 marks.

Examination Centres: Ahmedabad, Jammu, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Bhopal, Lucknow, Chandigarh, Mumbai, Chennai, Patna, Cuttack ,Prayagraj, Delhi, Shillong, Dispur, Shimla, Hyderabad, Thiruvananthapuram, Jaipur.

Application Fee: Rs. 200
Female, SC/ST, and Persons with Benchmark Disability candidates are exempted from paying the examination fee.
The candidate recommended paying the examination fee online.
